This talk is intended for veterinarians who may encounter equine patients with fractures or other orthopedic emergencies in the field. The diagnosis and stabilization of various fracture configurations will be discussed, in addition to tips to enhance the prognosis following referral to a tertiary care hospital. Interpretation of radiographs and discussion of prognoses for various fracture configurations will be discussed, in addition to the diagnosis and management of other common equine orthopedic field emergencies. Case examples will be presented.
