COOL Spotlights July 21, 2026: New Publication – Single Cell RNA-sequencing reveals unique neurological phenotype in ameloblastomas
The Sethupathy and Peralta labs have recently discovered a unique phenotype in ameloblastoma tumors. These tumors are traditionally very difficult to differentiate from squamous cell carcinomas, which becomes a concern when choosing treatment options. With these findings, currently available as a pre-print in bioarxiv , we hope to resolve some of those difficulties. This may also lead to improved treatment options for ameloblastomas. therapeutic targets.
July 1, 2026: Arly Camila Armas Jimenez of the Evans Lab presents at the International Conference on Canine and Feline Genetics and Genomics (ICCFGG)
In July 2026, Cami presented her research at the International Conference on Canine and Feline Genetics and Genomics (ICCFGG), where scientists and clinicians from around the world gather to advance research on inherited diseases, cancer, behavior, morphology, and evolutionary biology in companion animals. Speaking in the Cancer Genetics session, Camila shared her work on canine oral squamous cell carcinoma, highlighting how whole-genome sequencing is helping researchers better understand the tumors' mutational landscape and identify potential therapeutic targets.
Cami is a PhD candidate who earned her master's degree in Animal Science from Oklahoma State University and her bachelor's degree in Biotechnology from Universidad de las Fuerzas Armadas – ESPE in her home country of Ecuador.
