Cornellians shine at largest worldwide exotic animal conference
Cornellians past and present converged on Seattle in late August to share their work at Exotic365, the largest annual conference on exotic animals in the world.
Current students, recent graduates, past house officers and faculty led workshops and gave masterclasses and presentations, all based on case studies done at the Cornell University Hospital for Animals.
"It was wonderful that Cornell had such an impressive showing at this important conference," said Dr. Nic Di Girolamo, associate professor and section chief of the Exotics Service. "Connecting with colleagues from around the world, learning from them and sharing Cornell's work in exotics benefits all of veterinary medicine."
"As a student planning to specialize in exotic animal medicine in the future, presenting at Exotic365 has allowed me to contribute meaningful research to the exotic animal community while strengthening my professional connections and learning directly from experienced practitioners who are shaping the future of this unique field," said Elizabeth Laramee, D.V.M. '26, a fourth-year student at the College of Veterinary Medicine.
Of the total presentations given at the conference, Cornell comprised 13% of the original research contributions and 11% of the total lectures and labs.
