Her primary interests are in developing teaching models in the preclinical curriculum to link preclinical content with clinical applications.  She is involved in teaching anatomy (The Animal Body and Anatomy of the Horse) and physiology (Function and Dysfunction) to first year veterinary students, in addition to teaching clinical students and residents with the Sports Medicine and Rehabilitation service at Cornell University's Hospital for Animals.

Biography/Professional Experience

Dr. Allison Miller is a senior lecturer in both the Department of Biomedical Sciences and the Department of Clinical Sciences, Section of Sports Medicine and Rehabilitation at Cornell University’s College of Veterinary Medicine.  She received her Doctorate in Veterinary Medicine from Cornell University in 2007 and returned to the College in 2013 in a teaching role after completing a yearlong internship in Vermont followed by five years in clinical practice. She pursued further training at Chi University to become a certified veterinary acupuncturist (CVA) in 2013 and the University of Tennessee in 2019 to become a certified canine rehab practitioner (CCRP).  She completed her residency in canine sports medicine and rehabilitation in 2024 at Cornell. Her residency training included serving as part of the veterinary team for the Westminster Dog show. Allison became a board certificated diplomate of the American College of Sports Medicine and Rehabilitation in 2025.  In addition to teaching in the preclinical and clinical curriculum, Dr. Miller has keen interests in conditioning and maintaining competitive dogs at peak performance, musculoskeletal ultrasound, post-operative rehabilitation, and managing small animal geriatric patients.  Additionally, she enjoys working to develop new teaching modalities to help veterinary students better connect preclinical content with clinical applications.
