DESCRIPTION (provided by applicant): 

Emerging viral diseases pose a significant threat to the US swine industry. Here we will we will characterize mechanisms used by Senecavirus A (SVA) and African Swine Fever virus (ASFV) to cause disease in swine. The basic scientific knowledge resultant from these studies will allow rational development of safer vaccines or therapeutics to combat these important diseases of swine.
