Title: Mastitis Resistance to Enhance Dairy Food Safety, Milk Quality, and Animal Welfare
Project Amount: $89,305
Project Period: October 2023 to September 2026

DESCRIPTION (provided by applicant):

Individual quarter dry-off (QDO), the discontinuation of milking of one udder quarter, has been increasingly employed to manage cows with elevated somatic cell count (SCC) and recurrent clinical mastitis. However, knowledge on its feasibility and consequences is scarce. In this project, we will study the effect of QDO on milk production, udder health and animal well-being in dairy cows.
