Cornell Companions - The Gossett Center

The Gossett Center is a secure correctional facility for boys 12-18. Cornell Companions visit two classrooms per session during which time we divide into two groups and switch classrooms halfway thru the visit. Due to the secure nature of the facility, Cornell Companions volunteers are escorted throughout the building by Gossett staff members. The boys have been extremely responsive after their initial fear of some of our animals. Currently there are llamas, alpacas and dogs that are visiting. The staff is very cooperative and appreciative of Cornell Companions efforts with the boys. Gossett is located next to Lansing Residential Center for Girls. It is more secure than the girls' school but not as secure as the McCormick Center for Boys. We visit the 1st and 3rd Thursdays of each month at 1:45-3:00.
