Application Process

Financial assistance is provided by the Office of Student Financial Planning through a variety of sources. Please click the appropriate section below to find the steps required to be considered for scholarships and loans. 

Current Students

Current students must submit the following by April 1* for each academic year:

  • FAFSA (school code: 002711) with IRS Data Retrieval Tool

- Please note: to be considered for gift aid, parental data is required on the FAFSA

- Aid Selection (Gift Aid & Loans, Loans Only, Not Applying)

- Student Survey and Student Statement of Personal Interests (if applying for gift aid)

  • It is preferred that everyone utilize the IRS Data Retrieval Tool when completing the FAFSA in lieu of sending documents to our office. If you are not able to use the IRS DRT, you can submit an official IRS Tax Return Transcript
     
  • Submit required documents to our office (required documents are listed on the Financial Aid Dashboard)

* You can still apply after the priority date of April 1 but may receive a delayed financial aid award offer as a result.

The CSS Profile is no longer required for most returning students. If you have had a significant change in financial circumstances or are a first time financial aid applicant, you may be requested to submit one at a later date.

Do I need to include my parents' information?

If you are younger than 30 years old and unmarried on January 1 of the year of financial aid application and wish to be considered for scholarships, you must include parental data** on your FAFSA and you must submit the parent's IRS tax return transcript if not utilizing the IRS Data Retrieval Tool. Complete parental information is required on the FAFSA for ALL students wishing to be considered for the Health Professions Student Loan, regardless of age.

**If parents are divorced/ separated, only the custodial parent data is required.

* We want you to have all the information you need before making the choice to attend Cornell University College of Veterinary Medicine. Meeting the application priority date will ensure that your financial aid is available prior to the decision deadline. You can still apply after the priority date but may receive a delayed financial aid award offer as a result.
