Jackson Seminara

Brief Biography: 

Jackson grew up in New York City and came to Cornell University for undergrad, where he studied Animal Science in the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences. As he progressed through his education, Jackson worked in various research labs studying anything and everything he could from ornithology to landscape and chemical ecology. As his research interests developed, he discovered that the nexus between animal health and sustainable agriculture was far and away the most rewarding research he could participate in. With this as a focal point, Jackson returned to Cornell for veterinary school to start his journey toward becoming a clinician scientist. As a vet student, Jackson participated in a few dairy cow projects that ultimately drove him to settle on dairy cow disease as a main research priority. This launched his application to the Combined Degree DVM/PhD where he was accepted and continues to follow his passion for applied epidemiology as it relates to production and animal welfare, in the McArt Dairy Cow Lab. Beyond the barn, Jackson loves cooking, writing, taking on home improvement projects with his longtime partner, hanging with his friends and family, playing with his dog and two cats, and enjoying all of the natural beauty that Ithaca has to offer.
