The Virology Laboratory at AHDC is working with USDA National Veterinary Services Laboratories in Ames, IA to complete validation of whole blood EDTA as a specimen type for EEEV detection by RT-PCR. Please include whole blood EDTA when submitting antemortem samples (e.g. CSF and serum) for EEEV diagnosis. An RT-PCR test will be performed on the whole blood EDTA sample at no cost to the client.
