New Feline Respiratory Panel

Diagnosis of Feline Respiratory Infections

A wide range of pathogens cause or contribute to the upper respiratory disease syndrome of cats. Some of these pathogens can cause serious or chronic disease in individuals and/or spread rapidly in feline populations. Identification of the pathogens involved can guide judicious use of antimicrobials and help prevent the spread of disease.

Cornell AHDC offers a Feline Respiratory Panel including the following pathogens: feline herpesvirus (viral rhinotracheitis), feline calicivirus, Bordetella bronchiseptica, Mycoplasma felis, Chlamydia sp., Pneumovirus, Influenza A virus (all subtypes), Mycoplasma cynos, and Streptococcus zooepidemicus.

Appropriate samples: nasal/pharyngeal swab (moisten with saline – no gel swabs), tracheal wash, BAL, or respiratory tissue

Our panel combines the latest testing methods and comes with the support of our team of veterinarians who can help with biosecurity recommendations, disease management, and control.

This testing is available at discounted pricing to animal shelters that qualify for Maddie's® Shelter Lab, a subsidized diagnostic service offered by Maddie's® Shelter Medicine Program at Cornell in collaboration with the AHDC.
