Seminar Title: "Emergence and Evolution of a Pandemic Canina Parvovirus -- The Control of Viral Host Range and Antibody Neutralization"

By: Dr. Colin Parrish, Cornell University

Many life science companies do not fail because the science was wrong. They fail because no one validated the problem, the customer, or the market before years of development. This Lab to Impact session, hosted by Cornell's Center for Technology Licensing, brings together Audrey Beckman (Boomerang Ventures), Dave Saunders (AiM Medical Robotics), and Dr. Amir Goldan (Weill Cornell Medicine) to discuss customer discovery in early-stage life sciences. Donna Rounds, Ph.D., will moderate. Open to Cornell researchers, faculty innovators, and aspiring entrepreneurs.

Dr. Julia Herman, DVM, MS, will be holding a special presentation, "Improving animal health and welfare through industry education and quality assurance programs" on Thursday, October 22nd from 12-1pm in the Murray Lecture Hall 1 (S1-166) at the College of Veterinary Medicine.

Title: Beyond the Pathogen: One Health Risk Modelling for Antimicrobial Resistance
Speaker Bio: Dr Claire Hayward is a Research Fellow at Adelaide University, where she leads work in the AMR Risk Assessment project stream for the SAAFE Cooperative Research Centre (Solving AMR in Agribusiness, Food and Environments). Her research integrates quantitative microbial risk assessment with Bayesian network modelling to assess AMR risk across water, wastewater and agricultural systems – informing interventions...

Dr. Anna Claire Church, a Frank H.T. Rhodes Postdoctoral Fellow at the Cornell Population Center, will speak as part of the CoRe Seminar Series with her talk, "Advancing Understandings of Male Reproductivity."

The Cornell Equine Hospital and Cornell Cooperative Extension are proud to host the Equine Seminar Series. These monthly virtual talks are presented by equine experts on important equine health and management topics.

"Is My Horse Getting What It Needs? From Eyeball to Evidence in Feeding, Condition, and the Everyday Work of Horse Management" Presented by Ken Estes, Jr., MPS, Cornell Cooperative Extension of Livingston County

Most of us make feeding and condition decisions by feel — a glance at the hay, a look at the horse, a sense of how things are going. But what if we could sharpen...

Seminar Title: "New Approaches Against A Re-Emerging Virus (Measles)"

By: Dr. Erica Saphire, La Jolla Institute for Immunology

Join us for the inaugural seminar of the new Biomedical and Translational Sciences Department Seminar Series! Dr. Peter Westcott is an Assistant Professor at Cold Spring Harbor Lab and a Cornell University alumnus. He will be presenting his talk, "Inflammation and stem cell plasticity in colon cancer progression and therapy resistance" in CVM's Paddock Lecture Hall 2 at 12:00 PM on Thursday, October 15, 2026. Leveraging...

Seminar Title: "Deciphering the Chemical Crosstalk of Host-Gut Microbiota Interactions"

By: Dr. Pamela Chang, Cornell University

In recent years, increasing interest in small-scale farming in suburban, peri-urban, rural and even urban areas of the U.S. has fueled growing demand for veterinary care. The book Practical Guide to Adding Livestock to Your Veterinary Practice (Wiley, 2026) offers veterinarians an accessible starting point to meet this need. Co-authored by veterinarian Michelle Buckley—an assistant professor of practice in the Department of Population Medicine and Diagnostic Medicine at Cornell's College of Veterinary Medicine—the book contains essential information on physiology, management, handling, and...
