Beginning January 13, we will no longer offer testing of two Leptospira serovars, Autumnalis and Bratislava. These tests will still be available through the National Veterinary Services Laboratory, and so we can refer samples there as needed. We are discontinuing these tests because these two serovars are uncommon in the United States, and we have found that they often generate false positive results. Due to the poor positive predictive value of these tests, they are thus rarely helpful in diagnosis of true disease. In cases in which these tests may be valuable, please contact the laboratory for additional guidance.
