When Poop Counts

You asked, we listened! The Parasitology Laboratory is now quantifying parasite stages in loose and even in small amount of fecal samples from production animals. We, however, need to point out that due to excess fluid in loose fecal samples, results from these quantification may not accurately represent the animal's parasite burden. Moreover, parasite eggs/oocysts, when shed in low numbers, may not be detected in loose or small samples. We advise you to take into consideration the sample amount and feces consistency when interpreting parasite counts.
