Infectious Diseases

The Infectious Disease faculty engage in research, teaching and service activities within the college and university. The expertise of our faculty includes bacteriology, parasitology and virology.

Research

Our faculty conduct basic and translational research focusing on pathogen-host interactions and mechanisms of virulence and disease pathogenesis. They strive to translate research findings into improved diagnostics, therapeutics and vaccines to combat important endemic, emerging and re-emerging pathogens at the animal-human interface.

Teaching

Our Infectious Disease faculty teach courses to undergraduate, graduate, and veterinary students as well as interns and residents. Their expertise on zoonotic pathogens provides students with a unique opportunity to learn and practice One Health concepts.

Service

Several of our Infectious Disease faculty provide routine service to the clients of the Cornell Animal Health Diagnostic Center, leading diagnostic investigations affecting pets, livestock or wildlife species.
