Immunology and Infectious Diseases Research
The College of Veterinary Medicine has a rich legacy in discoveries relating to immunology and infectious diseases. We focus on understanding the complex interactions between pathogens and the immune system to develop innovative treatments and preventions. Key areas of research include:
- Innate and adaptive immunity
- Pathogen behavior within human and animal populations
- Molecular basis of bacterial and viral infections
- Vaccine development
- Anti-microbial resistance
Scientists in our Departments of Microbiology and Immunology; Population Medicine and Diagnostic Sciences; and Public and Ecosystem Health work across disciplines and institutions to make cutting edge discoveries in this area.
