Genetics & Genomics Research

A scientist holding an Eppendorf tube

Our college has broad and deep expertise in genetics and genomics research, focusing on how both can impact health and disease in  animals and humans.

Our research efforts include:

  • Comprehensive species genomics, particularly canine and equine, with the aim to improve breeding practices and disease prevention
  • Exploring the genetic factors that influence fertility, reproductive health and development
  • Epigenetics and Gene Regulation
  • Comparative genomics across species
  • Computational biology approaches to understanding genome function in health and disease

Discoveries are further bolstered by resources such as the Center for Vertebrate Genomics, the Cornell Reproductive Sciences Center, and the Cornell Veterinary Biobank.
