Cancer Research

The image shows organoids (miniature, simplified versions of an organ) used to study gastric SCJ cancer. A mutant organoid with inactive tumor suppressor genes, right, grows faster than the normal organoid.

The College of Veterinary Medicine focuses on several facets of cancer biology and research, including:

  • The tumor microenvironment
  • Genetic and immunologic drivers of progression
  • New treatment strategies
  • Comparative oncology
  • Cancer metabolism

Researchers across our academic departments including Biomedical Sciences, Clinical Sciences, and Microbiology and Immunology have active research projects in cancer research and routinely collaborate with colleagues across disciplines within the college, the university and other institutions.
