Applications
Application Requirements
To apply to the AQUAVET® I and II courses, students must submit:
- An application form (to be completed online)
- A current CV that describes your educational and professional training. It is helpful for the admissions committee if you highlight undergraduate, graduate or veterinary courses you have taken relating to exotics, wildlife or aquatics. We will look for these on your transcripts. If you are not in veterinary school and not a graduate veterinarian, please be sure to indicate what specific courses/training that has prepared you to handle the AQUAVET course material (e.g. histology, pathology, toxicology, etc.).
- Official transcripts of all college-level course work, including undergraduate, graduate or veterinary school courses you might have taken. Transcripts MUST be sent directly from the university (electronically when possible) to the director of AQUAVET® at aquavetmail@gmail.com. Students outside US and Canada should contact the director to inquire about acceptable formats.
- A short statement describing your goals and motivations. The statement should have between 250 words and 400 words. It should express your interest in aquatic veterinary medicine, and include past or current events that have contributed to that interest such as education, work, or other experiences relevant to marine and/or fresh water biology, aquatic veterinary medicine, or related fields. Be as specific as possible in describing your current career goals and the path that led you to them. NOTE: You may not use the word “passion” or any of its derivatives.
IMPORTANT: Prepare all the documents and write your essay before you start filling in the online application. Once started, you cannot save and come back later to finish our application.
Make sure your file can easily be associated with your application by adding your name (e.g. John_Doe_CV.docx, John_Doe_Essay.docx). You can submit your file in a .docx or .pdf format.

You will receive an email acknowledging we received your application. If you do not receive a confirmation email, contact Dr. Stremme.
Criteria for Admission
Admission to the AQUAVET® I and II courses is competitive and based primarily on a review of application materials submitted. Decisions are made by a committee from the sponsoring institution. The decisions represent the committee's assessments of each applicant's ability to make use of the opportunity, as indicated by academic performance, previous experience in related fields, purpose and goals, and general qualifications. The potential contribution of the student to the future development of the field of aquatic veterinary medicine will be among the factors considered by the admissions committee.
