Prospective Students
The Biomedical & Biological Sciences (BBS) PhD Program is an interdisciplinary umbrella program housed within the College of Veterinary Medicine.
The PhD program provides opportunities for cutting-edge research in a broad spectrum of biomedical sciences referred to as Research Areas. When applying to the BBS Graduate Program, applicants will first choose from one of our five concentrations – Immunology & Infectious Disease, Zoology & Wildlife Conservation, Translational Medicine, Population Medicine & Epidemiology, or Molecular & Cellular Medicine - and then can select up to three Research Areas (including an undecided category):

- Nutrition
- Reproductive Biology

Applicants to the BBS program are strongly encouraged to contact faculty members prior to applying to the program, however, it is not required. Individuals admitted to the BBS PhD program are admitted to the 1st year cohort and not a specific faculty member’s lab. Admitted students are required to complete three lab rotations during their first year before officially joining a lab.
